Completion of another safe crane move
During the course of the Ichthys Onshore LNG Project in Bladin Point, Darwin, Monadelphous Heavy Lift engaged the services of Steel Group to mobilise and demobilise our LR1600/2, 600t Superlift Crawler crane to and from the Project.
This transportation activity involved mobilising the crane from Port Hedland to Darwin and then subsequently demobilising the crane from Darwin to Perth. Steel Group arranged all transport and permits/approvals for the project and worked closely with Monadelphous to deliver the most economic and efficient delivery of the crane. This involved additional stripping of the base crane to achieve required transport configuration to comply with Main Roads (WA) weight limits on the transport route.
Steel Group coordinated both loading and offloading of crane components both in Monadelphous’s crane yard and on the project site in Darwin to ensure a smooth delivery process. The 600t Crawler Crane was despatched with 84m of Main Boom, 36m of Derrick Mast and 350t of Superlift Ballast. This required the use of a 100t float, 2 x 50t floats and 39 conventional trailers. The total transported weight of all crane components totalled approximately 905 tonnes.
All transport operations were completed in a timely manner resulting in an ahead of schedule mobilisation for this crane. Our thanks to Steel Group for their effort in completing another safe crane move for Monadelphous Heavy Lift.

We needed a miracle and Steel Logistics delivered
We had a absolutely brilliant experience with Steel Logistics.
From the beginning we were not given a lot of notice of needing logistical help and John made it “happen”.
We had a tight deadline and needed 6.5 tonnes of equipment brought from Germany to Australind(Near Bunbury, South West of Western Australia).
We needed a miracle and Steel Logistics (John) delivered and made it possible.
John was there for us from when it left the factory, until it arrived on site by truck.
John explained the whole process. He provided valuable information and knowledge about the technical aspects of how our freight would get from A to B.
It was delivered in time with no hassles. His whole team were an absolute credit to the company with their professional and friendly approach.
We are delighted with our new business, our systems that we imported make all the difference.
We have no hesitation in recommending Steel Logistics to anyone needing Logistical help, I can’t speak highly enough of what John and his Team helped us to achieve.

Professional and Timely
I would like to say thank you for the service you provided in relocating the LR11350 from Darwin (NT) to our project at Olympic Dam (SA)and then after our project to our laydown area in Adelaide (SA). The LR11350 is our largest crane and comes with quite a lot of oversize components.
All was handled smoothly and safely, especially the access to site, which was handled in a very professional and timely manner.
Thanks again for your support and look forward to future transportations together.
